Last Wednesday, Three Sisters Garden Project had the pleasure of hosting our friends from Chive Events and Catering. Chive is a full service, zero waste, sustainable events and catering business located in Beverly MA. Chive sources all their food from local and sustainable farms and purveyors and prides themselves on developing strong relationships with all their suppliers. Three Sisters is grateful to be one of the farms on Chive’s menu each week. The Chive crew arrived at the farm ready to work!
We started the morning by harvesting 123 pounds of produce (worth over $500) which we donated to the Open Door Food Pantry. Part of our mission at Three Sisters is connecting communities to fresh produce. Open Door supplements the Ipswich Food Pantry and other food pantries with local, fresh produce and relies heavily on donations each week.
After the harvest, we moved on to planting. With all the extra hands, we were able to plant fennel, lettuce mix, and several beds of flowers. We even had time to harvest several bunches of flowers which were arranged beautifully by the design team at Chive and sold at the Ipswich Farmer’s Market later that day. All the hard work was then rewarded by a deliciously prepared lunch catered by Chive.chive
