We have a well on the farm, finally! After an incredible winter, with snow lingering on the fields well into April, we got pretty hot and dry almost immediately – temperatures in the 80s by the first week of April. Our poor spring greens that like it cool and wet had a very tough time; the incredible farm crew & volunteers spent a LOT of time handwatering these crops so they would make it through the (rainless!) month of May.
So yesterday’s drilling for the well (in photo) was a welcome sight. We have water on the farm, and once electricity is set up with a pump, we’ll be watering with plenty of volume & pressure to keep crops growing. And of course, we’re still hoping for rain.
