We are seeking a full-time seasonal Assistant Grower for the 2015 farm season.
Who we are: The Three Sisters Garden Project is a collaborative effort that brings together a wide range of local organizations to foster an agricultural program that integrates education, food-based community engagement, and sustainable land stewardship.
While we are a community farm with big vision for connecting food and farming to others, the focus of this assistant grower position is working with the Farm Manager in growing food. Candidates need a strong work ethic, physical stamina for long days at a fast pace, great communication skills, and ability and enthusiasm for working alone and with a team.
We use organic methods to grow vegetables for our 75-member CSA, our local farmers’ market, and food donations to our local food pantry. We are mechanized but very small-scale. While we always look for ways to be more efficient and work at a faster pace, the farm crew is valued and we take care of our bodies.
The basics of an outdoor physical farming job are all required: a valid driver’s license, ability to lift heavy weights repeatedly over the course of the season, bending, kneeling, handling knives, etc.
Previous farm experience is required. This position is a good fit for someone ready to take some leadership with existing farm skills, while continuing to learn & grow. Ideally, a candidate also brings tractor operation and maintenance skills, and has worked with carpentry tools, small engine tools, fencing, irrigation – all the aspects of a lively small farm operation.
The assistant grower works from early April til early November. Competitive hourly wage is offered, depending on experience.
To apply, send a letter of interest and resume to the Farm Manager, Elizabeth Green, at liz at threesistersgarden dot org.
